Argentina
This collection of photographs is from a trip there in 2009. We journeyed from the north where we witnessed the breathtaking Iguazu Falls to the beautiful eclectic city of Buenos Aires to the very bottom of the world …Tierra del Fuego in Ushuaia. I was very much impressed by the variety of landscape and terrain that I saw there.
In Iguazu , we traveled on a little train through the jungle and suddenly we were at the top of the waterfalls. There was a very adventurous walk we made on very small bridges suspended over the river. I photographed rainbows floating amongst the mist.
Buenos Aires, is beautiful and it has a familar feeling to many European cities. I loved the different neighborhoods . La Boca is a very colorful part of town, I loved seeing the painted buildings and couples dancing the tango on the cobblestone streets of El Caminito. San Telmo is a more bohemian section where we photographed all kinds of trinkets and memorabilia at the big flea market. I have included a collection of sculptures from various mausoleums in the La Recoleta Cemetery. I was intriqued by the city like streets that were formed within the space and the feeling of closeness that exists between life and death. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the world.
From there our journey continued down to the most southern city, Ushuaia. It is often referred to as “The End of the World” we happened to be there on the longest day of the year in the southern hemisphere. We photographed the setting sun long after 10pm. The memories of what we saw and experienced there have stayed with us all these years.
